Choosing The Right Excavation Contractor

The first step in preparing a building pad is to clear the site of any existing structures, trees, bushes, and other debris. This will help ensure that there are no impediments when it comes time to level and grade the soil. It’s also important to check with your local municipality or county office to make sure there are no applicable zoning regulations or other restrictions that need to be taken into account before beginning work.

Level and Grade the Soil

Once the site has been cleared, it’s time to level and grade the soil. This involves using heavy machinery such as bulldozers and backhoes to move large amounts of dirt around until it is level across the entire surface area. Care should be taken not to disturb any underground utilities like water lines or sewer pipes during this process. Additionally, if there are any slopes present on-site, these should be accounted for when grading so as not to impact drainage or interfere with future landscaping plans.

Compact the Soil

Once all of the soil has been leveled and graded, it needs to be compacted down so that it can support the weight of whatever structure is being built on top of it. This is accomplished by driving over it repeatedly with heavy machinery such as vibratory plate compactors or rollers until all pockets of air have been removed from between particles in order create a solid foundation layer.
